Works

Blizz Art. It’s the perfect name for a gallery that represents an artist like Isabelle Scheltjens. An artist who arrived on the art scene to redefine expectations in a blizzard of pure creativity and invention. Who uses sparkling fragments of glass that create powerful images that blitz the senses. With incredible detail up close. And startling beauty from a distance. The neo-pointillistic juxtaposition of shapes and colours combine with layered glass shards to create unique portraits. Details blur into each other from a distance. Others become more pronounced or appear for the first time. Or they’re completely redefined as your eye is teased by the different layers of glass. All before they disappear when you viewed from a different angle. By creating pieces that morph and transform before our eyes, Isabelle invites us to find emotion and meaning. Or to find elements of our own selves reflected in our interpretations. A modern homage to classical portraits that espouse modern daring and invention. A new form of art. One that is already fulfilling its destiny, setting new standards and exceeding expectations.

Isabelle

Isabelle Scheltjens has had an incredible start. In just five years, she has been critically praised, gained global respect and appeared in major galleries everywhere from Belgium and Denmark to South Africa and the USA. Her unique approach to mosaic portraiture and pointillism is steeped in history. She builds on revered artists and established techniques. But not by simply following the same paths. Isabelle reinvents, translates and transforms. And in doing so, she has created a new artistic movement of her own. Isabelle has redefined pointillism for the modern day. Already she is being dubbed ‘The Queen of Dots’. We are being told that in this century, pointillism—or neo-pointillism—already belongs to her. And this is all just the start for Isabelle. Blizz Art Gallery is the next step. The only gallery in Puerto Banùs, it gives Isabelle the opportunity to bring her visions to life. Isabelle Scheltjens is an artist whose work deserves to be admired. There is no better place to do it.

Location

Isabelle Scheltjens created Blizz Art Gallery to take her artistic vision a step further. Puerto Banùs is the perfect location in which to do so. ‘You have incredible colours here. The blue of the water. The stark whites of the buildings. And a sky that changes colour throughout the day,’ explains Isabelle Scheltjens. ‘When you combine that with the triangular sails of the yachts in the harbour and the hard lines of the buildings in the town itself, you have an effect that is almost like the mosaic tiles of my artwork. The town acts as an extension of the art in the Blizz Art Gallery.’ Modern architecture and interiors are characteristic of Puerto Banùs. ‘Visitors and residents clearly have a strong appreciation of modern art,’ says Isabelle Scheltjens. ‘And yet there were no galleries in the area. We are responding to that with Blizz Art. We see it as adding to the Puerto Banùs experience. You’re surrounded by luxury and that exciting atmosphere of design and artistic adventure. There are fashion stores, an incredible nightlife and even exotic sport cars. And now Blizz Art Gallery is a part of the picture. Another tile in the mosaic.’ Blizz Art Gallery is at Calle Ribera, Casa N, Local 18, planta baja 29660 Puerto Banús, Marbella.
